TD TURNS TEN!

Today marks ten years since TD Construction Testing Ltd was incorporated by Directors, Tom Robinson and Darren Ames. In those ten years we have achieved so much, grown more than we thought and still have loads left to do!

10 years is such a special milestone considering the statistics saying most new businesses fail, we then had to contend with Brexit, Covid and soaring inflation. In 2013, a newcomer to the market but now an established name in the industry so a massive thanks to our clients, staff and suppliers for their support throughout this period.

We currently have ongoing development works at our premises to increase our testing capacity and improve efficiency, we have also recently started utilising our newly created laboratory space and to top that off our new office floor is nearly installed, all aid our ability to further facilitate the substantial growth we are experiencing.

TD has generated over £2.5m in Social Value for our community, tested tens of thousands of samples, spent over £250,000 on environmental measures, Won four awards, came highly commended twice, was a finalist and shortlisted four times. That equates to more than one award per year we have been operating, an outstanding result for our amazing team.

We have sponsored or donated to more than 50 organisations, groups or individuals in support of good causes, developed long term partnerships with a number of local suppliers and worked with too many clients to count. Our vision is to collaborate with others and positively contribute to organisations delivering schemes by working in partnership together, at TD we believe this is essential to a trusting relationship that ultimately benefits everyone.

SIC PARVIS MAGNA = GREATNESS FROM SMALL BEGINNINGS

This story does not come close to showing everything we have achieved in these ten years but in fact, it now acts as a benchmark of what we intend to do over the next 10 years!

TD DOES MISSION CHRISTMAS

It is that time of the year again, it marks 4 years of continued support from our organisation to Cash for Kids Mission Christmas. In the time we have partnered with Radio City we have approximately supported over 100,000 children and raised/donated thousands of pounds contributing to the millions raised by other businesses across the Liverpool city region. We are committed to supporting worthy causes and are proud of our tradition of helping our local community. This year a total of 31,502 children will receive gifts from Santa – A big thank you to all who donate through us or directly.

FOURMIDABLE SAINTS

St Helens RFC did the quadruple, it was a record breaking fourth consecutive Super League Grand Final title. They surpassed Leeds with this record-setting ninth Grand Final win. St Helens’ victory establishes them as one of the greatest teams in the Super League era. Complete dominance in recent years shows their ability to perform at exceptionally high levels consistently and that work ethic is certainly something everyone will try to emulate.

TD TRIES FOR QUADRUPLE

We pride ourselves on being an award winning organisation providing quality services whilst retaining that small business ethos that benefits our clients and staff. Our staff are dedicated to our objectives and as such it results in our business being shortlisted, commended or awarded in recognition of these efforts.

This year we were entered into the following:

Construction News Workforce Awards – Net Zero Team of the Year = Finalist

St Helens Business Borough Awards – Small Business of the Year = Shortlisted

St Helens Business Borough Awards – Green Business of the Year = Shortlisted

St Helens Business Borough Awards – Apprentice of the Year = Shortlisted

The recognition of the service we provide motivates our teams to continue to try and best their efforts year on year. The sheer commitment from our staff in their day to day roles allows things like this to happen, a quadruple of nominations for four awards goes to show our culture and evidences our ability to perform at a high level consistently.

NET ZERO HERO

It is always great to receive a write up from an external body recognising the hard work we are putting into our Net Zero project. SMEs find it difficult to develop Net Zero plans due to lack of expertise and the lack of ability to fund schemes with little to no financial payback.

At TD we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and becoming sustainable in the long term. We were supported by the St Helens Chamber Business Growth Programme in assessing our current footprint and identifying opportunities to reduce this in the future.

NEW CORING RIG, MORE INVESTMENT

We continue to invest in our staff, premises and equipment to ensure we provide all our clients with a high level, committed and quality service, designed to meet their specific requirements and at all times striving to exceed their expectations. We want to be a company renowned for being able to provide our clients with what they want, right first time by working in a partnership with them.

We have received our brand new tall mast Neptune coring rig from Xcalibre Coventry to add to our existing fleet. Just in time as it will be sent out to a new pavement investigation contract. In addition, we will utilise this to serve a recently secured local contract and many more in the future. At TD our aim is to invest in equipment that benefits our clients, so having an order book full of contracts means we can thrust this new coring rig straight into these schemes helping them meet their challenging deadlines.

This is just the start of our planned investment with a lot more new equipment set to arrive in the upcoming months; More PQIs, More Air Meters, More Large Shear Boxes, More Vehicles and much more to be ordered and brought into immediate use in order to match our clients’ workload.

TD SMOOTHLY THROUGH SURVEILLANCE VISIT

This years UKAS surveillance visit is done and dusted, with an extension to scope thrown in for good measure.

Thank you to the TD team who have all played a part in keeping the day to day operations running and ensuring the assessment ran smoothly. Some really good performances from staff being assessed for the first time with excellent feedback received from UKAS.

At TD we try to embed the culture of ensuring quality, it clearly is paying off and it is wonderful to see staff development acknowledged.

FC ST HELENS CLINCH CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to FC St Helens, on clinching the Cheshire Football League Premier League Title with an emphatic 5 – 0 win!

We are delighted for everyone involved with the club, their hard work is really paying off and the progress continues. Onwards and Upwards!

TD SPONSORED MAGS CELTIC WIN

CHAMPIONS! Mags Celtic JFC U7’s fought a closely contested cup final that finished 2 – 2 before coming out with the win on penalties.

A great achievement and each individual should feel an immense amount of pride to get to the final, let alone come away with the trophy.

TD GAINS GRANT TO GO GREEN

St Helens Council opened a grant fund called the Climate Emergency Response Fund which TD successfully applied to. Our proposal was to install 42 Solar Panels at our premises in St Helens with a view to reduce our carbon emissions, generate renewable energy and advertise the importance of tackling climate change.

We achieved our targets, increasing our sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint and a successful social media campaign that resulted in very good levels of engagement from residents.

The board of directors have agreed our ambition must match that of our local authority and we to aim to be NET Zero by 2040.
We are looking to build on the success of this project by investigating, investing and implementing other measures. This will
form part of our Carbon Reduction Plan that will continue to help reduce our carbon footprint.

Thank you to St. Helens Borough Council for their support in our project.
